LUXQUANTA EXHIBITS AT DG CONNECT: A CHECKPOINT OF EUROPE QUANTUM STRATEGY
Showcasing NOVA LQ® at the European Commission’s Quantum Technologies Exhibition
Quantum is no longer a distant speculation. On 2 July 2025, the European Commission launched the Quantum Europe Strategy, a roadmap to make Europe the global leader in quantum by 2030. A day later, the Quantum Technologies Exhibition opened at DG CONNECT in Brussels, turning strategy into something you can see, touch, and evaluate.
In that setting, LuxQuanta presented NOVA LQ®, our Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD) system, purpose-built to secure real telecom networks worldwide and to advance Europe’s EuroQCI’s ambitious deployment plan.
“In quantum, we are relevant to the world.” — Dr. Roberto Viola, Director-General, DG CONNECT European Comission

The exhibition was opened by Monica Constantin, Project Officer, EU Quantum Flagship | Quantum Community Network (QCN), and featured insights from Prof. Tommaso Calarco (Forschungszentrum Jülich; Chair of the QCN), highlighting how European science and industry now converge into deployable infrastructure.
Dr. Gustav Kalbe (Acting Director for Enabling & Emerging Technologies; Head of Unit, Quantum Technologies, DG CONNECT) led a guided tour of European leaders and decision-makers and praised the showcase:
“This is the most visual and didactic exhibition we had so far, with a true ‘WOW’ effect. The content is perfectly aligned with our objective to educate the general public and policy makers about the maturity of the technology and how excellent we are in the EU.”

An Ecosystem that Compounds Europe’s Advantage
Europe isn’t starting from scratch. A decade of investment via the EU Quantum Flagship has built a dense innovation network: research centers, startups, scale-ups, operators, and integrators. As a growing scale-up, LuxQuanta stands alongside fellow Spanish ICFO spinoff Quside (focused on QRNGs) and other European QKD providers, forming a robust value chain from components to end-to-end secure links. The exhibition at DG CONNECT made that ecosystem visible where it matters most: inside the European Commission.
Commercial, viable quantum technology devices from companies across Europe are on display so everyone can see what the EU has built so far, and the foundation from which the Quantum Strategy will continue to advance.

From Policy to Product: What NOVA LQ® Makes Real
In addition to thorough, well-designed plans to develop quantum computing, sensing, and communications, independently and together on the path to the Quantum Internet, the Strategy calls for world-class quantum infrastructure that can be deployed across live networks. NOVA LQ® is engineered for exactly that:
- Coexistence on lit fiber (DWDM): quantum and classical traffic sharing the same fiber.
- Carrier-grade, compact 2U design: built for operator environments.
- Multi-receiver scalability: ring and star topologies without architectural lock-in.
- Tailored for metro networks (~100 km / ~20 dB): practical distances for national backbones.

NOVA LQ® CV-QKD devices installed in a server rack. The system are mature and being commercialized to provide quantum-safe communications.
Crucially, NOVA LQ® is entirely manufactured in the EU and is already being deployed across Europe within national EuroQCI programs under DEP1. Beyond that, LuxQuanta leads the DEP2 EuroQCI project “QUARTER,” accelerating multi-country deployments and interoperability toward a secure, pan-European quantum communication layer.
How NOVA LQ® Maps Directly to the Strategy
NOVA LQ® represents the kind of mature technology the Strategy identifies as a key lever for Europe’s positioning in quantum technologies. Although there is still ground to cover on standardization, full scalability, and mass adoption, European QKD manufacturers like LuxQuanta are enabling real deployments of quantum communications today.
-
Infrastructure pillar: deployable CV-QKD over operational, already-installed optical fiber.
-
Ecosystem pillar: European supply chain and interoperability with leading KMS/encryptors; collaboration within a strong Flagship-built network (e.g., Quside and other QKD providers).
-
Skills & awareness pillar: by exhibiting at DG CONNECT, we help policymakers assess technology maturity first-hand, bridging the gap between policy and deployable products.
